Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does coaching cost?
A: My pricing is similar to other health/wellness and personal development investments such as private fitness training or therapy. The value from coaching can be similarly life-changing yet offers something distinctive—the ability to unlock and harness the life you want. I invite you to get in touch for a free informational call to learn more.
Q: Is coaching like therapy?
A: Coaching and therapy may feel similar in the sense that they both can be cathartic, yet there are important differences. Coaching begins from a place of relative function, identifies inner blocks and helps the client move forward toward extraordinary; therapy starts from a place of relative dysfunction and may go deeply into the past experiences of a person’s life with a focus on helping the client heal. Coaches do not diagnose mental health conditions like licensed therapists are qualified to do, and the process of coaching focuses less on the details of a client’s past and more on discovering the client’s “who,” what makes them tick and how they can develop a life of fulfillment and satisfaction.
Q: How are you qualified to give advice in any area of life?
A: Coaching is not advice- or opinion-giving. It’s guiding the client to think deeply and comprehensively about who they are, what they want and how they will achieve it. In my approach, I support my clients by helping them discover what’s going on beneath the issue at hand, unpacking that energy to understand how it’s affecting the way they show up and, then, finding ways to consciously choose what actions to take (or not take) toward realizing their goals and dreams.
Q: Will I have to talk about my feelings?
A: When we understand our emotions, we understand our actions. The more honest you can be about how you feel, the greater the insights you will gain from coaching and the more quickly you may reach sustainable success of your goal(s). That said, talking about feelings can be uncomfortable, complicated, mystifying and exhausting, so it’s no wonder many people avoid it. When I’m working with clients around emotions, I follow where they lead and hold their vulnerability reverently and safely. There is no judgment. Sometimes clients become tearful during a coaching session, others times they are quiet and reflective, and often they may feel happy and renewed. It runs the gamut, and I’m here for it all.
Q: Are coaching sessions virtual or in-person?
A: I prefer to host coaching sessions via video-conference on Zoom. At times, we may meet by phone/audio if technology or unusual circumstances make video difficult.
Q: How did you get into professional coaching?
A: I love this question. It’s a bit of a story and I’d be glad to tell you more about it. Feel free to schedule a free consultation with me and remember to bring up this question. :)
